Pick up from your hotel in Nanjing or Nanjing Railway Station around 08:30am and then drive to Yangzhou City. Yangzhou is an ancient and modern city lying on the junction of the Grand Canal and the Yangtze River. It was once the economic and cultural center in the Yangzte River Delta.
The big draws in Yangzhou are the Slender West Lake and the Ge Garden. The Slender West Lake, as its name suggests, it is narrow and slender extending from northwards from Da Hongqiao Road to Daming Temple. This park is dotted with willow trees, small bridges, rocks, pavilions and gardens. It was once the favorite place of Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century.
Then move on to the Ge Garden. The Ge Garden is a famous private garden in a southern style. It is located in the east of Yangzhou City. It has crooked pathways dotted with dense bamboo groves, gardens, humpback bridges. You also have a glimpse of the Yangzhou’s former affluent residences in the Qing Dynasty.
Then visit Marco Polo Memorial Hall. Some seven hundred years ago, Christian merchant and traveler Marco Polo,who introduced Europeans to Central and East of Asia. The exhibition hall opened at the venue chronicles the life of the legendary traveler, with a focus on his trip to Yangzhou where he was involved in a chain of events. Pictures and notes are also on hand detailing Marco Polo’s adventure and his contribution to the world.
After the Nanjing side trip, you are transferred back to your midtown hotel in Nanjing or Nanjing railway stations.
