First you have a la carte lunch with an a la carte menu at a nice local restaurant, where you could enjoy the authentic Chinese food. Then have a stroll along the charming Shanhu Lake in the city center. Shan Lake ( Fir Lake )is on the east side of Rong Lake and connected with Li River. The Sun Tower and the Moon Tower are the highlight of the lake. The higher Sun Pagoda is connected by an underwater tunnel to the seven-story octagonal pagoda.
After walking around Shanhu Lake, move north to walk along Guilin’s pedestrian street known as “Zhengyang Pedestrian Street“. Zhengyang Pedestrian Street is on the northern bank of Shan Lake by the right side of Lijiang Waterfall Hotel. The over-600 meter street is full of stores, restaurants, bars. You will have the chance to see the local products and souvenirs.
Drive north to Folded Brocade Hill. Folded Brocade Hill is located about 2.5 km north of Rong Lake or Zhengyang Pedestrian Street. This is the best place to have a panoramic view in Guilin with spectacular views of Li River, Mulong River, Hubo Hill and Solitary Hill. It is a 20-minute’ hike to the Bright Moon Peak (明月峰)for the spectacular view.
Transferred back to your hotel in Guilin.
Pick up from your hotel early the morning. Then drive about one hour to reach the Zhujiang Pier for a four hours’s cruising on Li River – the highlight of sightseeing tour in Guilin with lunch aboard. The 83-km long Li River from Guilin resembles a jade ribbon flanked by idyllic paddy fields and green forested hills, and dotted with pinnacled peaks, yellow shoals, bamboo groves, odd shaped crags, deep pools and flying waterfalls. Li River is full of surprises which will ignite your imagination to fully appreciate the bestowed beauty. The lunch on board is very basic and you are advised to bring some snacks.
Your boat will bring you to Yangshuo. You will find yourself ending up here in the West Street (Xi Jie) 西街, a 500-meter vibrant street roughly starting from Yangshuo Dock where you disembark from your boat to Pantao Road (蟠桃路), a northeast – southwest street. This renovated old street has a a carnival feel, full of bars, souvenirs stands, restaurants, shops. Though the commercialization has cheapened its allure a bit, it is still an interesting place for people watching, drinking, eating and shopping. You will find a lot of street food, and souvenirs ranging from tacky gadgets to nice Miao embroidery.

Picked up from your your hotel in Guilin and drive about one hour to Daxu Ancient Town. It is located about 19 km southeast of Guilin city center. “Daxu” literally means “a big market”. Daxu Ancient Town used to be one of the four ancient market towns in Guangxi Province . The ancient town developed from Song Dynasty ( 960 -1279), prospered in Ming and Qing dynasties ( 1368 -1911) and reached its peak during Republic Era of China ( 1912 – 1949 ).
Daxu Ancient Town’s only street runs along Li River for 2 km (on the east bank of the river), flanked by traditional one- and two-story wooden houses. Walking on the stone-flagged street brings you back to the past when it was a busy trade and market town. Today, the town is well preserved and still inhabited by the locals from generation to generation.
After lunch, continue to visit Flute Reed Cave – a huge karst cave with a great number of stalactites, stalagmites, rocks in all featuring shapes and size. The cave is named after a kind of flutes growing on the hill which can be made into melodious flutes.
