Day 01: Xiamen – Tulou Cluster ( L D )
Pick up at your hotel in Xiamen around 8:00am. Then have a 2 and half hour scenic drive first to Nanjing Tulou Cluster. The Nanjing Tulou Cluster boast of three parts – Tianluocheng Tulou Cluster, Yuchanglou and Taxia Village. Roughly Nanjing Tulou Cluster are about 160km west of Xiamen and take one and 2 and half hours’drive from Xiamen.
Then visit Hongkeng Tulou Cluster. Hongkeng Tulou Cluster boasts of over 40 tulou buildings different in shape and size, circular, square, rectangular, crescent and with some variations. All the tulou buildings were built by the descendants of the Lin clan, starting to build the tulou buildings during later Song Dynasty (960 – 1279) and early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The most outstanding representatives of Hongkeng Tulou Cluster are Zhengchenglou, Kuijulou, Fuyulou and Rushenglou.
Day 02: Tulou Cluster – Peitian Village ( B L D )
After breakfast, move on to Chuxi Tulou Cluster. Chuxi Tulou Cluster is situated on the hillside, about 40km southeast of Yongding County and 230km southwest of Xiamen City. There are five circular Tulou buildings and over a dozen of rectangular in shape in Chuxi village.
You will visit Jiqinglou which is typical of the Hakka earth buildings in Chuxi Tulou Cluster. Jiqinglou was built in 1419 during the reign of Emperor Yongle in Ming Dynasty.
After lunch, continue to visit Gaobei Tulou Cluster. Gaobei Tulou Cluster are one of the major tulou clusters in Fujian. The most famous earthen builing in Gaobei Tulou Cluster is Chengqilou which stands 40km east of Yongding County, 4km east of Hongkeng Tulou Clurer and 15km west of Nanjing Tulou Cluster. The construction of Chengqilou started in the later Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) and finished in the early Qing Dynasty ( 1644 -1911), which took the Jiang family three generations’s effort to build such a large tulou.
Day 03: Peitian Village – Xiamen ( B L )
After beakfast at Wu Family Mansion, start to have a half day in the ancient Peitian Village. The Peitian Village is located in Liancheng County of Longyan City in west Fujian. It is about 100km northeast of Longyan and 300km northeast of Xiamen. The Ming and Qing building complex has been well preserved with a history of over 800 years.
The ancient building cluster includes 30 magnificent houses, 21 ancestral halls, 6 academies of classical learning, 2 memorial archways, and a 1000- meter long ancient street paved with cobblestones.
All the grand buildings in Peitian Village are based on the structure of the “Nine Halls and Eighteen Patios”. “9 Halls” mean door hall, lower hall, middle hall, upper hall, downstairs hall, upstairs hall, back hall, left flower hall, and right flower hall. The 18 patios (courtyards) include 5 yards in the entrance halls, 10 yards in the crosswise houses and 3 yards in the back hall. Each building is decorated with reliefs, couplets and stone steles. It is a wonder in the culture and architecture radiating from the unique buildings built by the Hakka people, attracting tourists from all over the world each year.
After lunch at Wu Family, drive back to Xiamen City around 6:00pm
