It is the biggest general museum in Shanxi Province, if you only have 2 hours to visit in Taiyuan. This is the best choice for you. The history can be back to 5,000 years ago. You can find the Ancient Bronze, history of Shanxi, Ancient jade, history of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, ancient money and jade, and a lot of porcelain etc. And there is very nice gift store for the copy of some things in the case of the museum.We need about 2 hours to see the main thing here

Drive to visit the Jinci Temple,30 minutes driving from the Shanxi Museum.Jinci Temple has a long history, which can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty,but no building are left from that time.The oldest thing is the cypress tree,about 3,000 years old.Second old buling that is saint mother hall(Shengmu Dian) which is built in Song dynasty about 1000 years old and the 43 sculptures from the song dynasty too.All of them are lifelike, they are showing us about the queen’s life in song dynasty.You can not miss it while you visit this temple.Third one about the whole temple, there are a lot of well,spring and bridge etc.It is good place to take the deep breathe and enjoy the fresh air in the summer and autumn.
