Itinerary
Day 01 Lijiang (L)
Arrive in Lijiang. Meet and transfer to the four-star Lijiang Old Town Impression Hotel. After refresh, start your visit to Black Dragon Pool Park located at the foot of Elephant Hill. It was built in 1737 during the Qing Dynasty and offers a spectacular view on the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Proceed to visit the Dongba Culture Exhibition Museum, which represents the Dongba Pictographic Characters and Naxi Minorities mysterious Culture, some of which still use the matriarchal social system up till today. In the late afternoon, tour the Ancient Town of Dayan, a World Heritage Site in China recognized by the United Nations in 1999.
Day 2 Lijiang (B, L)
Today you will have a half day horse-riding tour to visit Lashihai Lake which has been approved as a plateau wetland nature reserve in Yunnan in 1998. You will experience the traditional, rural Naxi lifestyle in a beautiful and peaceful setting. After paying a visit to Naxi Minority houses of local residents; you will pass through the virgin forest. Along the trip, you will enjoy the sightseeing including the fantastic waterfalls, Seven Immortals Lake, Thousand-year old Trees, etc. You also will cruise around the lake, watching a variety of protected migratory bird species such as the black-necked crane, whooper swan and black stork.
In the afternoon, return to the town and proceed to visit King Mu’s Mansion which was once the residential and working site of the Naxi rulers of Lijiang in the ancient time.
Day 3 Lijiang (B, L)
After breakfast, drive to Puji Village. You start the hiking, passing through rolling hills and pine forests for an hour before arriving Puji Monastery which is a Tibetan Buddhism monastery built three hundred years ago. The hike on the way down gives you a beautiful view over the entire valley.
After lunch, continue to Baisha Village which was the original settlement of the Naxi people over a thousand years ago. There are old temples with interesting frescoes originally made from 1385AD to 1619 AD. They employ the artist energies of Chinese Taoists, Tibetan and Naxi Buddhists and local Dongba shamans. Then carry on to Yuhu Village where you can visit the famed explorer Joseph Rock’s former residence. Located at the base of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Yuhu Village is a tranquil reminder of a former time. Drive back to Lijiang in the late afternoon.
Day 4 Lijiang (B)
Transfer to airport and fly to your next destination. Service completes.
