Day 1 Arrival in Xi’an: Pick-up & Hotel Check-in – Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Lunch)
Arrive at Xi’an, this ancient capital of China. Our local guide will pick you up at the airport/ train station and then take you to your reserved hotel for checking in and a short rest. After lunch, head for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Have you ever heard of Monkey King and Journey to the West? This great epic novel is inspired by Hierarch Xuanzang, who contributed to the Buddhist culture development of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is built in 652 A.D. on the premises of the Temple of Da Ci’en (Great Maternal Grace). Now the Pagoda holds sutras and figurines of the Buddha which were brought to China from India by Hierarch Xuanzang, who is mostly known for his 16-years pilgrimage to India for the Buddhist culture. Night Activity Recommendations: Night market at Muslim Quarter, Music Fountain at the Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. (Not included in this tour package.) Day 2 Xi’an: Small Wild Goose Pagoda – Terracotta Warriors & DIY Models (Breakfast, Lunch) Begin your morning by taking a visit to Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which stands 43.4m (142ft) high in 13 stories. It’s such a quiet place than other attractions of the city that many local people choose here to do some morning exercise or just a leisure stroll. You may join them to get a refreshing start of the day. (Visit: about 1 hour) Followed up is the top attraction of the city – Terracotta Warriors, a must-see that no one will miss! Let’s explore the mystery of these ancient army troops and also the legend of their King – Qin Shihuang (First Emperor of a united China) in the Mausoleum. (Visit: 2-2.5 hours) A speical hands-on activity today is to DIY your own models of Terracotta Warriors at Xi’an Art Ceramics & Lacquer Factory. Besides taking delight in the hand-making work, you can also have a tour around the factory and see how terracotta models are made. It will be a fantastic and ever-lasting memory of your Xi’an tour. Day 3 Xi’an: Cycling on Ancient City Wall – Muslim Quarter & Great Mosque – Shadow Puppet Play at Gao’s Courtyard (Breakfast, Lunch) Start your day with a nice breakfast, and then get up to the top of the Ancient City Wall, which was once the fortification ramparts of this ancient capital. Taking a bicycle ride along the Ancient City Wall is surely a pleasant experience to enjoy the city. (Visit: about 1.5 hours) Then dive into the Muslim culture in the Great Mosque, which combines Chinese elements with mosque in terms of architectural features. The neighboring Muslim Quarter is the main gathering place for the local Muslim community, and various exotic shops and savory restaurants stand in a glittering array for your visit. (Visit: about 2 hours in total) The Gao’s Courtyard in this community is also an interesting place to visit. It’s a traditional Chinese courtyard house built by the local successful Gao’s Family. Now there still well preserves the old furniture and living articles. Moreover, a local featured Shadow Puppet Play with traditional music is displayed here for enjoyment (Visit: 1-1.5 hours). Day 4 Xi’an: Shaanxi History Museum – Departure (Breakfast) The last day is for a summary of the history of Xi’an & China, which is presented at the famous Shaanxi History Museum. Ancient articles far from the prehistorical times to modern times are all well preserved and clearly labeled here. Indulge yourself into this treasure strove of over 300,000 ancient items! Later of the day you will be bidding goodbye to the charming Xi’an. Our guide will escort you to the airport/ train station for your next destination.
