Combining the ancient history of Xi’an and China together with the local traditions, this tour lead you to Shaanxi History Museum, Terracotta Warriors Museum and the Ancient City Wall for a time travel, and then takes an experience of the local life by touring to Donghan Village for learning paper cutting and to Gao’s Courtyard for watching shadow puppet play. Also a dive into the local Muslim culture at the Muslim Quarter and the Great Mosque.
Day 1 Arrival in Xi’an: Shaanxi History Museum – Ancient City Wall (Lunch)
Greetings from Xi’an! Upon your arrival, our local guide will meet you at the airport/ train station and take you to your hotel for checking in and a brief rest. After lunch, begin your Xi’an tour!
Your first encounter is the Shaanxi History Museum, which has already prepared for you a thick history book to read with its collection of over 300,000 ancient articles from the Bronze Age to the modern time. A great feast to your knowledge. (Visit: about 1 hour)
Followed up is the Ancient City Wall. This great rampart is 12 meters high and 15 meters wide in the upper part. You can take a leisure stroll on top and hold the city into your eyes. It’s the best preserved of its kind in China and a witness of the long long history of Xi’an and China.
Day 2 Xi’an: Terracotta Warriors – Paper Cutting Learning at Donghan Village (Breakfast, Lunch)
Terracotta Warriors is without doubt the top choice for your Xi’an tour. You may have seen them on TV or in pictures, but have you imagine what kind of feeling will it be when facing to thousands of terracotta warriors? Endured over 2,200 years, these life-like terracotta soldiers still stand in their position of guarding the Emperor Qin Shihuang. History carried by these silent guards is surely worth your reading. Lunch will be served at the Friendship Restaurant inside the Scenic Area.
In the afternoon you will turn to a local village – Donghan Village, which is about 30km southwest away from Xi’an downtown and known for its folk arts of painting and paper cutting. Simple and natural, the Donghan paintings and paper cuttings are with themes close to ordinary life and usually convey auspicious wishes. Now you have the chance to join and learn! Day 3 Xi’an: Small Wild Goose Pagoda – Great Mosque & Muslim Quarter – Shadow Play at Gao’s Courtyard – Departure (Breakfast, Lunch)
