Wang Family Courtyard and Zhangbi Underground Castle Pingyao Day Trips

Itinerary:
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel at 08:30am.then drive to Wang family courtyard. It will spend 50 minutes on the way. We will spend 1.5 hours to see, then 40 minutes to Zhangbi underground castle. We will spend 1.5 hour to visit. Then 40 minutes back to Pingyao or drop off you at Pingyaogucheng Station.The whole tour will need about 6hours.

-Wang family courtyard
It is a luxurious residence built during 1762-1811 by the descendants of the Wang Family, one of the Four Families of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in Shanxi Province.The compound occupies a total area of 150,000 square meters (about 179,399 square yards), of which 45,000 square meters (about 53,820 square yards) has been declares as a provincial protective cultural relic.

-Zhangbi underground castle
The Zhangbi Fortress encompassing the ancient town of Zhangbi Cun is an amazing feat of architecture and engineering. This lesser known historical attraction has many kilometers of tunnels in three layers under the town which were designed and built as a military defense position. The fortress has thick ground walls surrounding the town and high walls along both sides of the main street. This would allow residents to close gates in the high walls allowing intruders to access only the main street between the gates.
