Private 2-Day Turpan Tour from Urumqi

This 2-day tour gives everybody the opportunity to explore Turpan from Urumqi. The highlights include Jiaohe Ruins, the capital of the Anterior Jushi Kingdom; The Karez Well, a local Turpan water system;  The Flaming Mountains, the hottest place in China; The Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, a group of Buddhist cave grottoes; The Astana Tombs, a underground museum with ten thousands of cultural relics and other famous attractions.

Day 1:Urumqi -Turpan(L,D)

Your English speaking tour guide and private vehicle will pick you up at 7:00am in your hotel’s lobby ,heading directly to Turpan.It will take about 3 hours to arrive Turpan.

Your first stop is Jiaohe Ruins–the capital of the Anterior Jushi Kingdom. Like a willow leaf, the ancient city of Jiaohe has a history of 2300 years, it lies between two rivers on a loess plateau atop a cliff of over 30 meters (98.4feet). Jiaohe ancient city was considered as the largest, oldest and best-preserved earthen city in the world.The ruins includes the city gates, streets and lanes, government office, temples, domestic houses, cave houses, and underground temple.It was listed as the World Heritage by UNESCO on June 22, 2014.

Your tour guide will accompany you to explore this ancient city and explain histories and stories along the way.

Stop at a Local Restaurant for lunch.

Continue to the Flaming Mountains, which are barren, eroded, red sandstone hills. It is the hottest place in China with the highest temperature around 47.8 °C (118 °F) and surface temperature over 70 °C (158 °F) in summer. Because of the high temperature, eggs can even be roasted at that time and no vegetation exists there.

Afterwards,you will visit the  Grape Valley, which is one of most famous scenic spots in Turpan.

Return to hotel around 7pm

Day 2: Turpan-Urumqi (L,D)

Your English speaking tour guide and private vehicle will pick you up at 7:00am in your hotel’s lobby.Heading directly to Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves

Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves is  a complex of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to 14th century.They are high on the cliffs of the west Mutou Valley under the Flaming Mountains, and most of the surviving caves date from the West Uyghur kingdom around the 10th to 13th centuries.

Then you will visit Emin Minaret (Su Gong Ta),the largest extant old tower in Xinjiang and the only Islamic tower among the hundred famous towers in China.Right beside the minaret stands Su Gong Ta Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Xinjiang. The grand mosque can accommodate 1000 people despite the inconspicuous appearance.

Stop at a Local Restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon you will visit Astana Tombs which served mainly as the cemetery for the descendants of Chinese settlers in Gaochang from the 4th century to the first half of the 8th century.The complex covers 10 square kilometres (3.9 sq mi) and contains over 1,000 tombs. Due to the arid environment many important artifacts have been well preserved at the tombs, including natural mummies.

Then you will transferred back to your hotel in Urumqi .
